The black Nikon 1 NIKKOR 32mm f/1.2 Lens is a fast medium telephoto-length prime lens designed for use with the Nikon 1 series of mirror less digital cameras. The 32mm focal length is equivalent to a 86.4mm in the 35mm format, and coupled with the maximum f/1.2 aperture renders this lens ideal for portraiture due to its longer-than-normal perspective and ability to produce imagery with a shallow depth of field. Also contributing to offering greater control over focus placement is the inclusion of a manual focus ring, which can be used in both manual and auto focusing modes due to the M/A manual focus override capability. When working in autofocus modes, a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) focusing mechanism provides smooth, fast, and quiet focusing performance that is ideal for use when recording HD video.

Nikon 1 NIKKOR 32mm f/1.2 (Black) Review

I just posted a huge review of this lens at my website. I have tested all lenses for the Nikon 1 system, and have been a fan of this system since day 1 when others would trash it. I own and shoot Leica and a Sony RX1R but this Nikon V1 and 32 1.2 get the most use. This lens takes the 1 system to another level that has not been available before this lens or the new 18.5 1.8. If you are unsure about the cost of this lens, that is normal, as I was skeptical as well before trying it. I rented it to review it and after my review I came to Amazon and bought my own copy. At 1.2 the lens is bitingly sharp. Due to the Nano Coatings, flare is taken care of, as in, there is no flare issues that I have encountered and I have not been using the hood. (it comes with a hood).

The color this lens puts out is sublime and contrast is perfect. The lens will give you the Bokeh of a 32 1.2 lens with the field of view of an 86mm lens. Great for portraits and it also allows you to shoot pretty close. The good thing about Nikon 1 is the AF speed and this lens is no exception. I have been able to AF even in dark locations. If you shoot a Nikon 1 camera (I own two V1's) and you want a fast lens to give you shallow depth of field with plenty of sharpness and quiet smooth AF, then look no further.

Is it worth the cost? YES. The full frame Nikon 85 1.4 is double the cost but performs the same in regards to sharpness, color, and build. Depth of field will of course be different on a 1 system camera but you get plenty of "Bokeh" with this lens. It is a beautiful lens, and if the 1 systen stays around for the long haul then this will become a classic. To those wondering if the cost will come down in a year, it will not. None of the Nkon 1 lenses have come down except the one that was discontinued, and this lens will not be one of those :)

It has pro build, pro feel, smooth manual focus with magnify assist that automatically starts up with a twist of the focus ring, Silent Wave Motor, crystal Nano coating, a super fast 1.2 aperture and it is SHARP even at 1.2. It is also small and compact but short and squat. Perfect for a 1 body. This is for those that want a quality fast prime for their Nikon V1, V2 or J series camera and it will not disappoint.
