Dell XPS XPS15-9468sLV 15.6-Inch Laptop Review

I am not a huge supporter of Dell products and have always thought of them as a bit overpriced but I am impressed at the quality of this XPS 2012 model. The look and feel of the notebook is definitely reminiscent of a 15" Apple Macbook Pro. As some reviewers have stated, it is however a bit heavier than the 15" Macbook Pro. The extra weight is not due to additional components but rather a heavier aluminum alloy chassis, giving it a more rugged feel but making it a bit more tiring to lug around. The Corning� Gorilla Glass gives the Full HD 1080p LCD much needed protection and adds to the rigidity of the monitor but is not foolproof. It is still glass, and will crack if mishandled. I recommend getting accident insurance since it will cost a couple hundred dollars to replace the whole monitor if the glass cracks. The glass itself can be replaced alone, if the LCD is intact, but it is very hard to come by and is a tedious task to remove and repair, even by a professional. Single HDD slot and 1 mSATA slot on the system board, 2 DIMM slots (1 on top and 1 underside of the system board).
I am impressed by the RARE DDR5 dedicated GPU Nvidia GT-640M that is integrated into the system board (it's an ultrabook, you really can't expect a modular GPU). It provides flawless Bluray/FHD playback, encoding and decoding of video and in addition DirectX11 support for current games ex COD: Ghost and BF4 which can be played on Medium/High settings... On an ultra mobile system, I would call that pretty sweet but just watch your temperatures, this is not your desktop water-cooled gaming rig.
