Product Description

The ME 4 clip-on cardioid microphone compliments this ENG set by blocking out extraneous background noise due to its high-directivity. The bodypack transmitter and portable adaptive diversity receiver are equipped with charging contacts built-in to the housing for use with Sennheiser s optional rechargeable batteries. Reception stays strong as the receiver is upgraded to utilize its line cable as a second antenna for adaptive-diversity operation.

Sennheiser EW122PG3-A Camera Mount Wireless Lavalier Microphone System Review

I upgraded from the Audio Technica wireless mic b/c there was too much white noise in all my recordings. I didn't want to spend the cash on this mic, but it would be worth it if I could truly get clean audio. I'm happy to report that this mic is worth the extra money. The audio is very clean and sounds great. Plus, the quality of the equipment is really solid. Great stuff.

Here are a few notes I think everyone should know:
1. Each unit has a manual level adjustment. You control how many db the trasmitter outputs and how many dbs the receiver sends to your camera. You can play with the adjustments on both units to work on getting clean audio. Too high of a level on either unit will generate white noise.
2. The receiver has a mini-stereo connector, but the box comes with both a stereo-stereo cable and a stereo-XLR cable and they both plug into the receiver's stereo jack. Thus, the receiver can be plugged into a home videocamera or a high end unit with XLR input.
3. It comes with a plate to hook the receiver to your camera, and it is designed to plug into the hot shoe on top of a camera (if it has one). The plate is just there to secure the receiver to the camera, not supply power.
4. In all the reviews I've seen on the web, they all say that the tie clip is garbage and will let you mic spin around. Since this is a cardoid mic, it needs to stay pointing at your mouth and not move. The tie clip I got in the box does spin, but is seems to be very stable and doesn't move around on me while I talk. But considering how cheap it is, I wouldn't be surprised if it started loosening up and spinning around over the next month
5. When I ordered this, I was worried about the tie clip going bad, and ordered one I found on the web. It locks the mic wire into a certain position and won't let it spin. Search for MZQ222 and it works great.
6. When deciding which mic to buy, I was very confused about the channels. A, B, etc. Per one other review, you can go to a website and enter your zip code to find out which channels are best. I did this and couldn't make any sense out of it, so I called tech support. They said that for every area you live in, both Channel A, B, etc. will have open frequencies you can use. The reason why you should care about this is if you use multiple units at the same time and you don't want their frequencies to overlap. So one mic would be Channel A and the other would be Channel B. Ah, that would make sense. So I bought Channel A and haven't had any problems.
7. Oh yeah - the mic is big! Add the wind screen and you really need to wear a dark shirt so that it doesn't look so obvious on camera.

I hope this helps!
