CROSSOVER 27QW IPS LED 27" LG AH-IPS Ultra Slim 2560x1440 QHD DVI-D (Dual-Link) PC Monitor Review

The Crossover monitor arrived intact from Korea. The monitor itself is amazing. Picture is vivid and I still can't find a bad pixel. It does have a backlight control that works but no onscreen controls. There is significant backlight bleed on a black screen like when Windows is starting but it's not noticeable when the monitor is showing a picture.
On the monitor there is a power button, the backlight control and a volume control plus two unmarked buttons that don't seem to do anything. The monitor isn't going to win any industrial design competitions but it's certainly not ugly and seems to be made well. There is an unfortunate piece of silver plastic masquerading as aluminum trim that looks out of place because it sticks out about an eighth of an inch on the bottom. The rest of the monitor is a single piece of glass but when you turn it on there is about an inch around the edge that stays black. But it's so big you don't even notice it.
The stand is cheap and only offers a stiff, limited range of tilt but it's actually better than the stand on a mainstream Samsung monitor I have. The power converter box is huge and comes with a European plug and an adaptor but it's the same shape as most American power cords so I just used one I had laying around. There is no hum or noise at all from either the monitor or the box that I can discern.
Along with the Crossover monitor and stand I received a Dual link DVI cable and a small sound cord that fits into the jack on the monitor. The dual link cable is your friend because the monitor won't work with anything else. I have a DVI to HDMI cable that I tried, thinking it would be OK if only at a reduced resolution but it didn't work. So now I'm going to have to buy a video card for my main system but that's my fault, not the Crossover system's. Until I order one I'm using it on my gaming system.
I've tried some Bioshock Infinite and Far Cry 3 on the Crossover and both worked flawlessly with no ghosting. They look beautiful. Movies are vibrant and play perfectly. Now I will admit I'm not a video stickler. I haven't adjusted any of my monitors so the colors and brightness of this monitor might not make a videophile as happy. I'm happy and amazed I got this monitor so cheap and it arrived so quickly. A hearty thumbs up to the Crossover 27' monitor.
