The Stealth DC-1 uses dual independent AD1955 differential D/A converters, each operated in their highest quality internal differential monaural mode, for the lowest possible noise and distortion, followed by professional-grade LM4562 op-amps in the analog section for maximum fidelity. An advanced switchable asynchronous sample rate converter (ASRC) re-clocks the data at the same sample rate as the incoming signal, to dramatically reduce jitter. You'll hear what your source really sounds like. Built on high-quality 4-layer FR4 PC boards, using the highest quality parts, including an oversized toroidal power supply with multiple stages of linear regulation, the Stealth DC-1 offers measured and sonic performance that exceeds DACs costing several times more. The Emotiva Pro Stealth DC-1 gives you a full range of pro-grade inputs, including galvanically isolated AES/EBU (XLR), Toslink (optical), Coax S/PDIF (RCA), and BNC S/PDIF digital inputs, and a high performance asynchronous USB input. I first bought DC-1 for a system (Adam F5 + SVS SP1000) I built around my computer. The whole system sounded great. Since I also do some vocal recording, I later changed my mind and wanted to try Motu Track 16. Bought it and AB-ed with DC-1. Motu actually sounded great also with warmth. But it lacked the super clearity that DC-1 has, and the headroom (dynamics) is much inferior to DC-1 (dont get me wrong. Motu 16 is better than other interfaces in these two cat in its price range IMO). In addition, the Motu sounding is not as forward as DC-1 (which you may like or hate). When connected with computer using a regular USB 2 cable, Motu could only play at 48K while DC-1 could at 192K. I dont know if this had anything to do with the super clearity of DC-1 or not (my source was only 44.1K). Another big advantage of DC-1 is its driver. It is very easy to install and very very stable. I never had any problem with it. While the Motu driver is a real PITA. Furthermore, DC-1 does not use the break-out cables (as in other interfaces, which I dislike), and it has a REALLY NICE remote. In the end, I decided to continue using my old recording gears (presonus system), returned Motu and kept Emotiva. I have listened to many DACs and computer recording interfaces. IMHO, the quality of D/A in DC-1 is way better than that in other computer interfaces in its price range. If you dont need the recording capability in other interfaces (Track 16, Baby face, Duo, Forte, etc), look no further (at sub-$1000 range).
