I think the optics are quite adequate. The unfortunate part is comparing them to the Bausch & Lomb Elites of years past. These lack the overall construction quality. The focusing knob squeeks while turning. It wobbles slightly on its axle. The diopter control is right next to the focusing knob (rather than on the eyepiece) and inevitably comes unstuck (a slide-to-lock) and the setting is off on its own again. Even the fabric webbing loops that to which the neck strap fastens are sadly inadequate. The buckle through which the webbing passes is not up to the task and slips slowly until the binoculars dive for the ground and I grab them by the strap. Just in time every time until I took the little loops apart and sewed them securely. These are adequate but the name reminds me of a great line of binoculars and that is too bad.
