I purchased this kayak knowing that it will have some limitations given its size and overall design, but for the price it has some great benefits worth mentioning. I will try to outline the pros and cons of this kayak. I have taken it out to the water three times already. The first time, it was in a slow moving calm river. At this time my paddling technique was not quite good as I was learning. I noticed the kayak was a little difficult to paddle in a straight direction. I adjusted my paddles' length, tried different stroke angles (low and high), but it was still difficult to go straight. I spent most of the time correcting the kayak's direction. The second time was on a lake in calm weather and it was somewhat easier to paddle, but still not easy to keep straight.
Now the good points: it is as light weight as it gets for the money - 36lbs which I weighted just to verify it. The kayak is well built, no need to fear the built quality. The seat has little foam padding, but I didn't find it uncomfortable. This kayak is very easy transport from car to water. I can actually do it with one hand. The hull has a shallow "V" design with hard chines. That provides for a very good initial stability which is great for a beginner paddler.

Pros: Very light weight! Great initial stability! Adjustable foot pegs. Good price. (I paid $250)
Cons: Slow, doesn't track well.

I think the best use for this kayak is just to get you on the water. Calm waters that is. If you don't care about going very fast, or super straight all the time, you can easily do a little fishing, a short trip, or just paddle around for fun. I am keeping mine until I am sure which way I want to go for an upgrade to a more expensive/higher performance kayak. I am planning on having more fun out of this one before upgrading, though. Would I recommend it? Yes!
