Although I do not totally agree with the decision to ditch the Minolta hot shoe, the flash itself is an excellent tool. The new button/menu layout, like any product, will be easy to navigate after you become familiar with it. In manual mode, they have added more flexibility by going down to 1/128 power. As with the F43 flash, manual power can be adjusted in 1/3 or 1/2 stop increments. The F58 was limited to 1/32 if I recall. This flash is massive, so the F43 may better suit you if saving weight is important. In my opinion, the Quick Shift Bounce feature is what separate's this model from anybody else's flash. For the price, Sony should have included colored diffusers to match the flash to (not LED) tungsten and fluorescent lighting. To beat the competition at this price range, they could have included a built-in radio trigger such as Canon's latest flagship flash unit.
