I picked up one of the new silver Oppo BDP-105 decks. It is a stunning unit to behold and fits nicely into a system with brushed aluminium finishes.

This deck is very similar to the BDP-103, but adds a few key features to enhance audio playback. These are true high-end upgrades found only in top-of-the-line equipment. However, to get the true benefits from these upgrades, the analog outputs (RCA and/or XLR) should be used to drive the amplifier inputs. Do this by either directly connecting the Oppo outputs to the amplifier inputs or connecting them to your pre-amp/pre-pro/receiver analog inputs and bypassing all other audio processing.

Besides playing virtually every disk format out there, it also a very capable network streamer. This feature makes it easy to listen to and watch both on-line and local media. Networking is supported over wired and wireless networks. It is a very capable DLNA render so playing media over the network is a controlled by your phone or tablet/pad. You can also use the MHL USD interface to play media from your phone in HD resolution.

If all this isn't enough, you have a 4K capable video player that accepts digital inputs (HDMI, Async USB, and SPDIF) with many uses, such as upscaling your cable set top box.
