Portalites are not worth the headache of putting together. One head shipped DOA. Other head is misfiring.

The bag and the lights are good for the price, IF THEY ACTUALLY WORK. One of the heads has to go straight to warranty repair because it arrived DOA and makes horrible firecracker popping sound the minute it's plugged in. Box arrived with only one stand and two stand bags. (Poor shipping QA people!)

Don't think the portalites are worth anything. They're a real headache to put together, they assemble with crummy wire spring rods and no way to keep them attached to the inside of the softbox during assembly. Also, the speedrings are plastic(!) I would have preferred one good medium soft box or two good umbrellas and reflectors. It only comes with one umbrella reflector too. I mean, come on, really?

Then, I had trouble on a shoot a few days ago when the one working unit simply refused to fire remotely on shutter release for no apparent reason. It fired every single time I hit the test button, and my other Dlite 4 IT fired every time, so I had to put the Dlite 4RX into optical slave mode to make it work.

These things are big problems if you expect to work on a client job.

UPDATE: The warranty service center quoted me up to six week to get parts if they're not in stock! I'm simply returning the whole kit to Amazon for a replacement.
