Very pleased with this purchase at the price point I bought it (since December 2011 to February 2012 price went up 10%). Product quality of the mono-light seems be good. Battery pack canvas case is functional but not of high quality design and material. The product documentation is "no-frills"/bare-bones. Out-of-the-box, the mono-light itself is as nice as other name brand units. The battery pack is very light-weight as compared to other battery packs.

I am a Canon shooter and I have a 2 Canon 580EX II, 4 Yongnou 560, and 2 Yongnou 565 along with several Yongnou SF-18 Battery Packs (alternative to Canon's CP-E4 Compact Battery Pack).

I wanted power to overpower the Sun and fast recycle times when shooting with AC, and small f/stops (i.e. f/16 .... f/32..). I would just love to own an Elinchrom Quadra Ranger... but as a hobbyist i can't justify it(right now :-) ).

Last November (2011) I purchased a Lastolite EZYBOX 24X24" w/QUAD BRACKET - LAEZB2424Q. The quad bracket I was planning to use with my existing Lastolight EZYBOX 36x36.

I did an indoor shoot today with the Mettle 600ws and hooked-up the Ezybox 36x36 and Type S (aka Bowen) adapter ring. WOW! What power(easy f/29 and not even near full power). If I would have known about the Mettle a few months ago, I would have not gotten the Lastolite Quad Bracket.

For the long run, I recommend purchasing the 600ws model over the 300ws unit.

As a "strobist", it seems more cost effective and better hardware choice to purchase the Mettle 600ws strobe instead of multiple hot-shoe flashes to be used in a dual,tri, or quad bracket setup.

NOTE: The product pictures do no show that mono-light also comes with a protective hard plastic sleeve to cover the modeling lamp/flash tube for transporting the unit.
