Dell OptiPlex Desktop Computer - Intel Core i5 i5-3550 3.30 GHz - Small Form Factor Review

To my pleasant suprise I received this early, was expecting on a Monday but received on Friday afternoon. I was also happy that they gave me one with the wrong processor in it. It was supposed to have an I5-3550 but I received one with a I5-3570.

This computer does not have enough detail in the description. I took a chance hoping it had an HDMI but it does not. It has a Dell exclusive video port that a conversion can be found online but my local radio shack didn't have. I ended up purchasin a VGA cable that included the sound plug on both ends and was able to hook up without any problem directly to my TV.

Overall I am happy.

Polk Audio TL1600 Speaker System (Set of Six, Black) Review

This is a great sound system if you are looking for a full 5.1 setup (speakers only). I bought this for our game room so it's not our main a/v setup. I'm very fussy about the quality of my audio so I was a little wary about spending so little on speakers (the most important and most under-rated part of any a/v system. My overall impression is that this is an excellent system, especially if you are looking for inconspicuous speakers for your home-theater. The system comes with four TL1 satellite speakersPolk Audio TL 1 Sat Speaker (Each, Black), a matched central speaker and a powered subwoofer. Setup is easy enough (some reviews of the TL1 systems complain about the cable posts but frankly I saw nothing that caused me any concerns - I was easily able to connect each speaker with Monster Xp-CI cable. My one and only complaint is the mounting of the speakers to the wall: there is a small keyhole to hang the speaker from a screw you put into the wall (not supplied); this provides a terrible mount and the speakers really should be supplied with a mounting bracket. They are compatible with most universal mounts so expect to buy four mounts (one for each satellite). I don't know what the folks at Polk Audio were thinking by leaving the mount out but this seams to me to be penny wise and pound foolish (to quote an old English expression). That aside, the sound quality from this setup is nothing short of excellent. I'm powering the system from my old Yamaha RX-V2095 receiver which has excellent sound reproduction. The highs are crystal clear and the bass, once you adjust the subwoofer appropriately is clear and deep. The midrange is excellent for the size of the speakers. I did consider the much more expensive Bose system but to my ear this clearly sounds better and comes at a much better price.

Nikon Coolpix P520 GPS Digital Camera (Red) with 16GB Card + Battery + Case + Tripods + HDMI Cable + Accessory Kit Review

great little camera, but telephoto shots blur easily, and any movement what so ever effects the final picture. Close up and group shots are fine, camera is light weight and a great travel camera. Case arrived without carrying strap. Everything else in the bundle was fine.

Cisco CISCO1921/K9 C1921 Modular Router Review

I was in need of a home router that did not crash every 5 minutes like typical consumer routers do. I run 10+ services from within my home network, and I needed stability.

This router has been running flawlessly since the day I got it - as it should considering it is enterprise cisco gear. I have not yet had the time to touch QoS or any advanced routing features yet, but it handles multiple vlans perfectly with my juniper switch.

The only flaw in the router from a consumer perspective is the lack of NAT hairpinning which ironically is present on all $30 consumer routers but not enterprise cisco gear. I got around this by running an internal DNS server.

All in all I am very satisfied, this was without a doubt the best router at the pricepoint and was a great investment.

Product Description

NVIDIA Quadro 6000 by PNY - World s First 6 GB Professional Graphics Solution NVIDIA Quadro 6000 by PNY delivers the industry s largest 6 GB GDDR5 graphics memory. Built on the innovative NVIDIA Fermi architecture and providing 448 NVIDIA CUDA parallel processing cores, the Quadro 6000 is a true technological breakthrough delivering up to 5X faster performance across a broad range of design, animation and video applications.

NVIDIA Quadro 6000 by PNY 6GB GDDR5 PCI Express Gen 2 x16 DVI-I DL Dual DisplayPort and Stereo OpenGL, DirectX, CUDA, and OpenCL Profesional Graphics Board, VCQ6000-PB Review

As of 06/2012, the Quadro 6000 is NVIDIA's highest-end workstation GPU. For applications that need the advanced features over the equivalent Geforce GPUs, there is nothing else better on the market (except the Quadro 7000 Plex, but that one is in a price range of its own).

The following is a somewhat complete list of advanced features compared to the Geforce 480 GTX. Some of them involve actual hardware differences, while others seem to be artificial limitations that NVIDIA uses for market differentiation.

* A lot of memory (6GB) + ECC support
* 64x supersampled antialiasing, 128x with Quadro SLI
* Display synchronization across GPUs and across computers with the optional GSync card
* Support for SDI video interface, for broadcasting applications
* GPU affinity so that multiple GPUs can be accessed individually in OpenGL
* No artificial limits on rendering performance with very large meshes or computation with double precision
* Support for quad-buffered stereo in OpenGL
* Accelerated read-back with OpenGL. There are also dual copy engines so that 2 memory copy operations can run at the same time as rendering/computation. However, this is tricky to use.
* Accelerated memory copies between GPUs (tricky to implement)
* Very robust Mosaic mode where all the monitors connected to the computer are abstracted as a single large desktop. Unlike AMD's Eyefinity, Mosaic works even across multiple GPUs.

Cons:
* The performance for applications that don't use Quadro features can be lower than the equivalent Geforce. For example, raytracing with NVIDIA OptiX is significantly slower than with the Geforce GTX 480, as long as the scene fits completely in GPU memory.
* Quadro SLI only works on a couple of certified workstations from Dell, HP and Lenovo. It will not work with any consumer motherboard, even if it uses the same chipset. Conversely, those workstations do not support Geforce SLI.
* The Quadros are limited to only 2 displays each. GPUs like the AMD FirePro V9800 are much more economical for driving a large number of displays.
* The price is very high. For purely computing applications, Fermi Tesla GPUs offer better performance at up to half the price. If you don't care about points 1., 6. and 9. above, the Geforce is just as good for computing.
* Works fine with many games (e.g. Skyrim), but the performance is lower due to the slower memory and disabled driver optimizations. Also, gaming profiles are difficult to install and I haven't been able to use SLI or driver-based Ambient Occlusions.

Nikon Prostaff 5 Proscope 82mm Angled Body with 20-60x Zoom, Black Review

I did a lot of research on scopes. I really like the fact that this is so light weight for its size. I got exactly what the product was advertised to be which is the larger objective lense of 82mm. The price is phenomenal -- way less than anywhere else. The other person who reviewed this product confused me so much that I called Amazon and was told that I would receive the product that was advertised in the listing title, and that is the product I received.
