Klipsch RB-51 II Bookshelf Speaker - Black - Pair Review

I am a musician, and the quality of the music I listen to is very very important to me. I had been researching bookshelf speakers for months before deciding on these. In my local audio specialty store's listening room, I was able to do a side by side comparison with a pair of Def Tech AW 6500s, and the Klipsch had a much warmer, pleasant, golden tone. Nothing muddy, nothing harsh or tinny, nothing blurred. I tried them with a subwoofer and then without, and honestly the bass in the speakers alone is powerful enough. Unless you want a really enormous sound, or you're filling a party venue for many people, the bass in these is more than enough. My living room is 350 sq. ft. with 14 foot ceilings, and these handle the size just fine. They also perform quite nicely with my mid-size 1980s-era Realistic 300-watt amp.

The first test I did with these was Herbie Hancock's Watermelon Man. I can hear parts and voices in the music I had never heard before. It's almost as if you can determine the placement of the instruments in the studio when they actually made the recordings. Bizarrely, these speakers give you that 3-D experience. And with vocals, you can hear the consonants so clearly! Like others before me, I am rediscovering my music collection because of these. If you shop around, you can find these for even cheaper too. I found mine for $300.
