Electro Voice RE-20 Cardioid Microphone Review

The reason these are so popular in radio, is that talk show hosts today (and their in studio guests) don't know how to talk into a microphone. But this mic doesn't care. You can have one person where the mic is pointed to the side, or pointing down at thier pants, and another person talking into it properly, and both will sound good and the same. No proximity effect on these mics, so they are idiot proof.

However, if you know how to talk into a microphone, and want one for voice-over work, the Shure SM-7 is THE best microphone on the market today. (So was the SM-5, but it is no longer manufactured) AND, the Shure is cheaper too.

However, this one does LOOK better, and it is just as widely used in radio as the SM-7, so if you really like the looks of this one, then go ahead and get it.

However, for just a few extra bucks, the RE-27 is the improved version with better frequency response, so might as well get the better one. It looks almost the same.

OPPO BDP-103 Universal 3D Blu-ray Player + Roku Streaming Stick (Bundle) Review

First of all, I would like to start by saying that I bought this player not only for the reviews it was getting, but also because I am a sound fanatic. I would buy anything, within my budget, that makes my room and equipment sound better.
Oppo has really set the bar high with every product they put out on the market and the BDP-103 is no exception. Great picture and incredible sound from a player this price range. I was looking to trash my Pioneer Elite Blu-ray player because of the loading time. Don't get me wrong, I loved my Pioneer back when they first came out, but loading times have always been an issue. It would leave you hanging for at least 3-4 min. before you can even get anything going. Loading times on the Oppo are much better of course, as technology has improved.
I have not really pushed this player to its max, but I have downloaded flac files to an USB flash drive from HDTracks and run them through the player. The sound is out of this world!
As far as picture quality, I would say is about 20-30% better than my old Pioneer but I'm no expert by no means. Set up is easy and the Roku stick worked great from the first time I installed. Simple, one time set up.

Shure BLX24/SM58 Wireless Vocal System with SM58 Handheld Microphone, H8 Review

This wireless microphone was easy to setup, and the sound was very good. I got it to mic a wedding and this worked much better than putting lapel mic's on the individuals in the wedding.

Ipad Air 64gb Wifi Only Review

Runs super fast and smooth! The games look and run amazing. The thinner and lighter design is a definite plus but the camera still sucks and takes lousy pictures. Battery life lasts typical use for the whole day.

ASUS G10AC-US002S Desktop Review

We actually bought two of these machines. Both of them crash constantly (blue screens or random reboots). On one of them, I've upgraded the power supply and graphics card. The other is stock out-of-the-box. The one I modified is slightly more reliable...it runs pretty well and only crashes once every couple of days, as long as I don't play any games on it (then it'll lock up within 15 minutes). The other one crashes a couple of times a day, even when sitting idle. We've tried removing/updating drivers, we'ce run registry cleaners and so forth, but nothing seems to help. Minidumps indicate it's some kind of driver conflict but I can't figure out which driver is causing the issue.

I really, really regret this purchase. When I spend this much on a computer I expect it to work. All we have now are headaches.

The drive comes partitioned as though the system has an SSD in it (but it doesn't, and it's a single physical drive) so you have a 150 GB C: drive and a 2.56 TB D: drive. You'll want to move all your Win 8 "Libraries" over to that D: drive. There's no recovery partition as far as I can tell, you of course don't get physical media and you'll have to find a utility to expose your Windows 8 serial number...they don't put a sticker on the outside of the case.

I have an ASUS laptop that I'm pretty happy with, but I won't be buying any more ASUS desktops. They include all kinds of bloatware (including McAfee, which we immediately uninstalled) some of which phones home to ASUS servers. Things like product registration and utilities to update the bios. None of these work because their servers time out.

Now when the machines ARE working, they're really nice machines. Very quiet and of course, very fast. I voided the warranty on the one I've upgraded, but that gave me a peak inside the case and it's roomy and really easy to work in. If I had physical media I'd just reformat the drives and install Windows from scratch and see if that fixed the problem (and I could re-partition the drive then, too).

Rokinon CV16M-C 16mm T2.2 Cine Wide Angle Lens for Canon EF Mount Cameras Review

Currently there is only one EF wide-angle lens on the market that is faster than this one:
The Sigma 18-35 F1.8 lens. However, there is no lens 16mm or wider that is close to as fast as this one.
Canon lenses max out at F2.8, and so do most third party lenses.
At T2.2 (F2.0 in photographers terms) this lens is almost an entire stop faster. It is also sharp, and though a fully manual lens might not be the easiest for photographers, it is absolutely perfect for video.
